What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum subjects here. The latest ‘Spotlight on the Curriculum’ can be found in the Class Pages section of this website
Our school follows the National curriculum (2014) and this is arranged over a two year rolling cycle in Key Stage 1, and a four year rolling cycle in Key Stage Two. Children in Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We use a combination of Jolly Phonics, Flying with Phonics by Mr Mac and Letters and Sounds to introduce letter sounds and spellings. We also use a range of books to support development of reading skills, these include books from Bug Club, Rapid Readers, Story worlds and Oxford Reading Tree, as well as individual titles from many other publishers.
We endeavour to make our lessons stimulating and exciting and hope that our children will feel a great sense of ownership over their work. We love it when children are keen to pursue their learning in their own time and reach their full potential.
We also attach the Maths Calculation strategies that your child might expect to encounter as s/he progresses through our school. Please ask us if anything does not seem very clear. You will also find topic and long term plans on the individual class pages.
There are a lot of documents linked below. These will tell you what needs to be covered by children throughout their school career. Multi-year classes means that we cannot always follow a curriculum in the order envisaged by the curriculum authors.
